Roberto Loeb was born on May 17, 1941 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1965, he graduated from the School of Architecture at Mackenzie University, where he later became a program professor.  During this period, he participated in the design of the Natura factory in Sao Paulo, the headquarters building of H. Tern and the headquarters of the World Church of Mass in Brazil and other buildings of different nature, focusing on the design of museums, commercial, industrial and urban projects. 


Abroad, he competed in the Indira Gandhi National Arts Centre, a cultural centre in New Delhi, India;  Concorso Internazionale "Le Murate", Florence, Italy;  New York Waterfront Competition;  The New Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece;  The Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt;  And Reichstagsgebaude - Berlin, Germany - the new capital of unified Germany.  


At the invitation of IFA -- Institut Francais d'Architecture, he presented his project at a group exhibition of 30 Brazilian architects in Paris.  He was an official guest and lecturer at the 17th International Architecture Congress in Montreal, Canada, where he delivered a lecture on "Architecture and Politics".  As a guest architect, he has presented his projects at the School of Architecture at the University of Waterloo in Canada and the Cranbrook School of the Arts in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.  In Brazil, he has exhibited his work in solo exhibitions at the MASP -- Museum of Art in Sao Paulo and Mam-RJ -- Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro.  


Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he designed and organized exhibitions for the Itamaraty Convention Department at Galeria Debret in Paris, France, and Furniture Mart in New York, USA.  He is also responsible for exhibitions at the Pierre Hotel in New York and fashion shows in Brazil;  Exhibitions of Brazilian industrial products in Nigeria, Lagos, Santa Cruz de la Cerela and Cochabamba, Bolivia;  The Brazilian Landscape in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Brazilian Industry in Brussels, Belgium.  


The architect works in the field of social projects, designing and designing projects for homeless or at-risk residents, such as Projeto Oficina Boracea, Minha Rua Minha Casa and Projeto Anchieta.  For these projects, in October 2003, he received the Excellent Architect Award from the Mayor of Sao Paulo, Marta Suplicy.  


Together with architect Luis Capote, he was hired by the city of Sao Paulo to work on the restoration of the SAN Vito building (21,000 square meters) in the center of Sao Paulo and next to the municipal market, as well as the city museum.  In October 2004, he was a speaker at the third Asuncion-Paraguay Biennale, where his works representing contemporary Brazilian architecture were exhibited.  


At the invitation of the Sao Paulo Biennale, he organized the Brazilian pavilion of the Venice Architecture Biennale, the ninth international architecture exhibition in Venice, Italy, and presented a series of works in the exhibition.  From September 2004 to November 2004.  


He was invited by Fundacao Bienal de Sao Paulo to exhibit the Brazilian Pavilion at the 11th MIA (International Architecture Exhibition) in Venice from September 14 to November 23, 2008.  


In addition to providing services for the development of construction projects and technical projects, it is also committed to engineering management, working with clients to meet deadlines and costs, with an emphasis on new factory Factor 5 (Perfume),  The new Technology and Research Centre of Ericsson and Metal Leve SA in Jundiai, Sao Paulo opened in June 2008, responsible for the development of architectural and interior projects as well as the coordination of complementary technology projects, technical supervision and management of the works.  In addition, he managed the construction of the new industrial unit Knorr-Bremse in Itupeva-SP, Brazil, which will be completed in April 2013, and the construction of the new industrial unit Sicpa Tintas e Sistemas.


In 2022, the IAI Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to Roberto Loeb from 2021-2022 after the nomination and final evaluation of experts from the IAI Global Design Award Jury, and he will become the seventh winner of the IAI Lifetime Achievement Award in the history after Liang Zhitian, Xing Tonghe, Zhang Yiman, Zaha Hadid, Qi Kang and Eva Jiricna.
