On June 17-20, 2021, the 4th IAI International Design Festival & Art Xiamen and the 13th IAI Design Award Ceremony held in the beautiful Ludao Xiamen.Around 80,000 people, including IAI award-winning designers and people from the art industry or who are interested in art visited this exhibition. This ceremony was another grand and unique international design event since the third IAI International Design Festival successfully held in Tianjin in 2020.In addition to the IAI award-winning designers, the relevant leaders of the Xiamen Municipal Government, the design-related industry associations of Xiamen, Fujian province, design colleges, business circles, financial circles and the media also attended the IAI International Design Festival & Art Xiamen Opening Ceremony and IAI Award Ceremony activities.

In the category of IAI Architecture Award, there are several award-winning works from the world's top designers and design agencies. For instance, "Biodiversum Museum in Luxembourg" by Luxembourgian architect Francois Valentiny, "Centro Cultural, Gastronómico y Comercial Plaza La Serrezuela" by Colombian architect Aaron Cohen, "BAYER BRIDGE-SÃO PAULO" by Brazilian architect Loeb Capote, "Science Faculty Building Universidad Austral de Chile" by Chilean architect Albert Henry Tidy Venegas and other works all show the extraordinary strength of the award-winning works in this category. Similarly, among them, there are many architects from China, who are also particularly attractive in many categories of architectural awards, such as "Forest Valley Hot Spring Center" by B.L.U.E. Architectural Design Office, "Tangshan Imperial Scenery Hillside Hot-Spring Resort Club House" by Chiu Ligang, "Inflatable Membrane Structure Negative Pressure Virus Detection Station—Huo- Yan Air Laboratory", an architecture concept design by Tongji University won the IAI Best Architecture Award.On the evening of June 18th, the IAI Design Award Ceremony was held in the only seven-star hotel - Lohkah Hotel & Spa in Xiamen. The hotel was immersed in a festive atmosphere at the IAI Design Award Ceremony. Nearly 400 guests from home and abroad attended the award ceremony, and jointly witnessed the birth of the major awards of this year's IAI Design Award. The first award was announced by the host is the IAI Most Creativity Award. Laurent Troost, an architect from Belgium, won this supreme honor and became the second-ever winner of the IAI Most Creativity Award in the IAI's history. While Nguyen Chi-Hung, the designer of Hong Kong Studio Z, won the only IAI Environment Friendly Design Award. "Centro Argos Para La Innovacion" by Colombian architect Lorenzo Castro, "House H" by Chilean architect Felipe Assadi, "Nestlé School of Cookery" by Rosenbaum® design studio of Brazil won the IAI Jury Special Award.
In the category of IAI Interior Award, it not only fully shows that the number of works in this category is the largest, but also the quality is getting increasingly higher. For example, "Resee Studio" by Tang Jianfeng & Ye Gongfeng, "LINGDI OFFICE" by Hu Zhile, "Shixia Cottage" by Liu Yujie, "Between, To Simple" by Zhang Yingqi, "「Nagqu Shuiyue」 Hutong Quartet in Old Beijing" by Tanzo Space Design, "Trumen Seahavenn" by Zhang Yuchi, "Nanning Haoyouyuan Restaurant" by Liu Haodong, "BAYZ BAR" by He Liang, "La moitié" by One fine day studio&partner, and "Wind Circulation" by Tacco Lee won the IAI Best Interior Award. In addition, "Space design of Jinan Metro Line R3" by the Urban Public Art Institute of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, "Zhongguancun Shaoxing Shuimuwanqu Science park" by Qucess Design Firm, "ZXD&GZ Office" by Wei Yihui, "SENSE" by Ji Xiang, "WE Wedding Ring Art Cente" by Chen Fengfeng,'"Moveable Word" concept store | Sexy Tea" by Z&C Studio, "Shengong Japanese Restaurant" by Wang Chen, "Pine&Dine" by Chen Yijie and other works are also showed a very high standard design and won the IAI Interior Gold Award.
The works of the IAI Intelligent Manufacturing Award are more cutting-edge. Although the IAI Intelligent Manufacturing Award has been established for a short time, it shows the growing trend of catching up with others from behind. The quality of works has been improved significantly, which is very impressive, such as "The Heat-Cycle 95% White Goose Down Quilt" by Hangzhou Kanghao Yijia Home Technology Co, Ltd., "diiib Zhijing antibacterial intelligent toilet" by Xiamen diiib Technology Co., Ltd., "Infinite Tea Gauge II" by Xiamen EWE Industrial Design Co., Ltd., and "i16T smart toilet" by Foshan Gaoming Anhua Ceramic Sanitary Ware Co., Ltd, veinkay "EZ Golf" by Wang Kai, "Double Scissors" by Ren Peng, "Assembling building blocks for the general structure of ancient Chinese buildings" by Tu Yi, "The Seeds of Faith" by Hu Xianming, "Brand Design of Shijiazhuang Central Business District". These works which won the IAI Intelligent Manufacturing Gold Award fully show the intelligent achievements of innovation, science and technology. These achievements prove that the value of the IAI Intelligent Manufacturing Award has been continuously improved, and the winning works are on the same level as other top industrial design awards' works in the world. At the same time, they also reflect from another side that China has unstoppably begun to change from Made to Created in China, and the future will be very bright.

Although the pandemic has brought inevitable interference and influence to the organization of this competition, in the end, not only did the number of entries not decrease, but the quality of the works was even better than the previous one.
We received a total of 1573 outstanding entries from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Luxembourg, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, Bulgaria, Belarus and other countries and regions. Among them, 678 entries were shortlisted, and 399 works won the IAI Interior Award, IAI Architecture Award, and IAI Intelligent Manufacturing Award. The winning works of this competition are diverse in form and style, which has high value and hard to be distinguished who is better. Finally, the participating works won the awards with their own strength. The largest highlight of this competition was the three awards of the IAI Architecture Award, the IAI Interior Award and IAI Intelligent Manufacturing Award, which have distinct images and distinctive features. The winning works of the IAI Best Award and the IAI Gold Award in each category were the most interesting, and these works were among the highest standards of the design in the world today. And the IAI Most Creativity Award was more become a high-profile award, like the IAI spire beads, especially dazzling. In addition, the IAI Best Environment Friendly Award which was in recognition of the environmental protection and green sustainable design aspects and the IAI Jury Special Award were also impressive.

This IAI International Design Festival & Xiamen Art and the IAI Design Award ceremony successfully held, which has a special significance and a far-reaching impact. It further proves that the recognition and influence of the IAI Design Award continue to expand and improve at home and abroad, and at the same time, it also allows us to see the organizers' belief in victory in the face of the challenge of the pandemic and the determination and commitment of all of us. We believe it will go down in history as an important contemporary art and design branding event in Xiamen in 2021, as well as being one of the few large scales and high specification design branding events in 2021, the event was particularly relevant in the light of the ongoing global pandemic, which demonstrated the host’s strong confidence in overcoming the pandemic and the courage and commitment to face the challenge.
