Laurent Troost is a Belgian architect who has long lived in Brazil. His company headquarter is based in Manaus, Brazil. Troost is also the co-founder of Labverde, an Amazon art immersion project. His architectural practice has won many international competitions and awards, such as the Dejin Prize, the World Architecture Prize, etc. His work has been widely published and exhibited, including the St Paul Architecture Biennale, the Buenos Aires Biennale ESil, the Hall of Urbanism and Architecture in Paris and Seoul. Laurent has taught and made speeches in a number of institutions, including University of Escola and Fau-US Papaulo in South America, Udelar in Montevideo, The Social Center in Buenos Aires, Ming University in Costa Rica, Tokyo Development Learning Center, University of Virginia in Charlottesville. In addition to his work, Laurent was the director of urban planning for the city of Manaus from 2013 to 2020 and is currently a consultant to the World Bank Group.


In 2021, the second Most Creativity Award in IAI history was awarded. Laurent Troost became the first European designer to be nominated for this award, and was selected from seven candidates around the world. His rich architectural practice, strong commitment to environmental protection and persistence in sustainable design have made him the most competitive candidate for this award. Finally he won in the 13th IAI Awards ceremony.
