Zaha Hadid (1950 -- March 31, 2016) is a British architect of Iraqi origin, born in Baghdad in 1950. She is the winner of 2004 Pritzker Prize. After studying mathematics in Lebanon, she entered Architectural Association School of Architecture in London in 1972 and graduated from AA Diploma in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in Architecture. On March 31, 2016, Zaha Hadid died of heart disease in a Miami hospital at the age of 66.


In October 2015, Zaha Hadid submitted her last completed project as an entry to the IAI Design Award Organizing Committee, which is the design project "Dongdaemun Square" located in Seoul, South Korea. After several rounds of evaluation by IAI Jury, the project finally won the IAI Jury Special Award. 


On March 31, 2016, the day of press conference of the IAI design Festival in the Bird's Nest in Beijing, the tragic news of Hadid's death made a sudden dimming of the lamplight, making people feeling the pride of heaven left the world. On May 14, 2016, the 9th global Creative Design Award and IAI Design Award ceremony were held in the Bird's Nest Culture Center. When the host announced Zaha Hadid winning the IAI Jury's special Award, the audience burst into applause to congratulate the architect, who had recently passed away.
