Xing Tonghe is an outstanding representative of contemporary professional architects in China. He is a very prolific architect with dozens of works actually completed. Years of design practice has formed his own unique style. Among them, the Shanghai Museum is his masterpiece. His works pursue the organic combination of the spirit of the times and national traditions, modern technology and historical culture, with a strong sense of innovation.


On December 12, 2012, the 6th IAI Awards Ceremony was grandly held at the Shanghai International Convention Center. Professor Xing Tonghe was selected as the 2011/2012 IAI Life Achievement Award for his numerous architectural masterpieces with great national and modern characteristics and modest personality charm. At the same time, he became the second designer to receive the award after Liang Zhitian.
